How easy is it to install and use solar lights and garden decor?
Usually it is just a matter of opening the box and placing the solar lights and garden decor in the desired location in your garden or yard. We do recommend that you allow your solar lights to fully charge for up to 1 to 2 days before first use. If the product has an on/off switch then it is best to leave it in the off position until charged. Make sure that the solar cell is placed where it receives full sunlight for at least a portion of the day. The more sun it is exposed to during the day, the longer the lights will stay on at night. Following a full charge, the solar lights will automatically turn on at dusk and off at dawn. Simply make sure there are no other strong light sources nearby, such as a porch light, since the light may activate if it isn't dark enough. What type of maintenance will my solar lights and garden decor require? Solar lights are very low maintenance. The solar cell that collects the power from the sun and stores it in the batteries may need to be cleaned occasionally. And the rechargeable batteries may need to be replaced following 1 to 3 years of service. Most of the solar lights and garden decor use a Ni-Cd (nickel-cadmium) AA type rechargeable battery. These are inexpensive and can be purchased from any good battery retailer. Some of the solar lights use a slightly more expensive Ni-MH (nickel-metal hydride) rechargeable battery, which hold a charge a little longer and are more environmentally friendly. Solar lights generally do not produce as much light as electrical lights; however they have become more reliable and efficient, especially those solar lights that incorporate LED lights. LED lights generate almost no heat and have a life expectancy of almost 20 years. The brightness of a solar light varies depending upon the number of LED lights. A single LED produces a moderate light, 12 LED's produce a stronger light, and 16 LED's can be combined with reflective mirrors to maximize an ultra bright spot light.
